Wed. 8/26... Substitute... Scavenger hunt for Literature text book and grammar pre-test.

Thurs. 8/27... SSR and journal entry followed by grammar review

Fri. 8/28... continue grammar review and essay  "About Me"; in class essay

Mon. 8/31... Literature book.....Introduction to Unit One to page 27; and prepositions

Tues. 9/1... SSR and journal entry followed by vocabulary words (5) and continued work on prepositions on handout. work collected for daily points

Wed.9/2... Grammar test and the story of Beowulf pp 28-48 in text

Thurs. 9/3... SSR and continue Beowulf; early release day...short period

Fri. 9/4... finish Beowulf and assign project for the story ; Theme Park due Friday 9/11.  ENJOY THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.....BE SAFE!

This week has been weird!  Monday off for the holiday and then BAT practice and testing. Don't forget OPEN HOUSE on Tues evening for some extra credit points. The low down is:  Outside reading projects are due October 9th (firm); all make-up tests for vocabulary 1 must be made up by 3 pm on Friday 9/11 and Beowulf projects will be due on Wed, 9/16 during your class.  Extra credit was given to students that came to class, while those of you who thought you would take some vacation time missed some points that can not be made up.  you play---you pay.  Let's get back on track Monday, ok?

WWEEK of September 14-18

Monday, 9/14...Vocabulary 2 list, test Friday.  Literature p 83 vocab exercises 1-15, then page 84 "The Seafarer" and quest. 1,2,3

Tuesday, 9/15... OPEN HOUSE this evening.  SSR and journal entry followed by "The Wanderer" p. 90 in LIterature...Discussion about the differences between Anglo-Saxon people and modern people  and then "The Wife's Lament", p 94 and questions 1,2,3,6,8 discussed, answered and papers placed in folders.  Extra credit points for parent/guardians who attend open house.

Wednesday, 9/16...History of the English Church and People/audio; Beowulf projects due, Upfront Magazines, Subject/Verb recognition

Thursday, 9/17... SSR and journal entry; 6 traits in writitng - conventions, pronouns.

Friday, 9/18... Phrases; clauses ... vocab test 2  ...folder work

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21-25

Mon.  9/21...Vocabulary list #3/test Friday; word usage pretest

Tues.  9/22.. SSR and journal entry; Subject/Verb work...recognizing subjects, verbs, and their agreement; review prepositional phrases

Wed.  9/23... Canterbury Tales p 120-125...be certain you are keeping track and taking notes on the different characters being introduced as this will be important for your assessment exercise for this piece of literature; followed by clause/phrase exercises.

Thurs. 9/24... Early Release day... SSR and journal entry; review of the pretest from Monday; folder preparation for collection tomorrow.

Fri.  9/25... Vocabulary test #3; Canterbury Tales...more characters are introduced; assessment technique discussed; folders collected for grading.

Fri. 10/9...  WEAR BLACK; Vocabulary test#4; Outside Reading Projects DUE; "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" p 208... Q's 1,3,5,8,9; only 10 days before mid-terms!!!!!!! Be certain to check Pinnacle often and get missed work made up!!!!!  TIME IS PASSING ... ARE YOU?

WEEK OF OCTOBER 12

SUMMARY:  Testing again this week so classes off schedule.  We read "La Morte d' Arthur" q's 2,3,4,7 and vocab in action and "Sir Guwain and the Green Knight" and q's 1,3,5,8,9; we did SSR on Tues and Thurs; we discussed four possible topics for the mid-term essay: Were legends important to history, Were medievil people similar to modern people, How has the role of woman changed from ancient history to present, and How has the legend of King Arthur sustained its popularity for so long?  We did writing and grammar exercises on p 264-267 and we did vocabulary 5.  Folders were collected on Friday.  All make-up work had to be done by 3 pm on Friday unless excused absence on Friday and then work must be made up on Monday.  No exceptions.
